Welcome to the Post-Professional (Transition) Doctorate in Physical Therapy Program

Welcome to the Post-Professional (Transition) Doctor of Physical Therapy Program! It is a post-professional degree program for licensed physical therapists, designed to enhance clinical skills through the application of clinical decision making and evidence-based practice. The Post-Professional t-DPT program offers a clinical degree intended for physical therapy clinicians, managers, and educators who seek a generalist degree. Course work is designed to provide clinicians with the knowledge and theoretical underpinnings of practice recently added to the entry-level doctoral curricula.

The Stony Brook University Post-Professional t-DPT program began in 2002 and boasts over 250 graduates. The clinical doctoral degree is 30-36 credits, with 8 required core courses and 3 elective courses. The program is taught at Stony Brook Long Island and Stony Brook Manhattan locations.

We hope that you will choose this exciting and dynamic program! Please browse our web pages and contact us should you require additional information.
