Dr.. Xie received his BS in Biochemistry from Nanjing University, China and his PhD in Chemistry from South Dakota State Univerity. His research includes understanding the heme acquisition process in human pathogen Staphylococcus aureus at a molecular level and its role in pathogenesis and analyzing the effect of plant-derived polysaccharides on macrophage and neutrophil functions. Dr. Xie is currently working on the metabolism and pharmacokinetics of novel anticancer agents under study in our lab.
